Before You Travel make sure your phone is enabled for international
calling. This is a simple process but make sure you set it up at least
24 hours before you travel. To set up International calls dial 159
from your Orange phone and you will be guided through the process.
Don't forget your charger and a travel adaptor and make a note of
any international dialling codes you may need. Calls back to the UK
start with +44 in place of the first zero. If you intend to be abroad
for a long time you should prefix popular numbers in your phonebook
with the international dialling codes.
To make a call from abroad, follow these steps:
1. When your phone is switched on, it will automatically search for
an Orange partner network. On connection the name of the network will
appear on your phone's display, together with a small triangle to
indicate that you are in another country.Alternatively,
you can go to the Network Selection option in your phone's menu and
choose the relavant network.
2.
When dialling another country remember to add the international dialling
code to the number. The (+) symbol is the standard mobile replacement
(used instead of 00) for accessing international numbers. Depending
on the model of phone, (+) can normally be obtained by pressing the
star (*) key twice. If you are travelling to the USA/Canada on business
with a tri band phone, you will need to manually change the band to
GSM 1900 when you arrive and it will automatically select the network.
When you return to the UK, you will need to manually change the band
back to GSM 1800.
Using you answer Phone
You need to set up an Answer Phone PIN 24 hours before you travel
to allow you to retrieve your messages. Press and hold the answer
phone key or dial 123 on your Orange phone. Select option 3 to change
your personal options and follow the instructions to change your PIN.
Enter a memorable number of between 4 and 10 digits. Once set up,
you will be able to access your messages abroad by dialling +44 7973
100 123 from any phone, then enter your Answer Phone PIN when prompted.
To divert calls to your Answer Phone, activate the 'divert all calls'
(or 'do not disturb') option in your phone's menu.
When You Return
Switch on your mobile phone and reset any call diverts. If you do
not do this you will be charged rates for your answer phone as if
you were still abroad. If you were in USA or Canada, you will need
to manually change the band back from tri band (GSM 1900) to dual
band (GSM 1800).
